Sintering:
Sintering is the process where powdered materials, after being pressed into shape, are heated below their melting point. Under high temperature, particles within the compact bond with each other, material transport occurs, pores are eliminated, the volume shrinks, and strength increases. Gradually, the material takes on a defined geometric shape and mechanical strength.
Purpose of Sintering:
The main goal is to transform powdered materials into dense bodies and to impart specific properties to the material.
High-Temperature Sintering Furnaces:
These furnaces are used for sintering and include types such as vacuum hot-press sintering furnaces and spark plasma sintering (SPS) furnaces. They can directly sinter powdered materials into a solid form.
